Manitoba Responsible Service Certification
Smart Choices: Cannabis Retail Certification
We want to clarify that we do not offer the Smart Choices Cannabis Retail Certification due to regulations set by the Manitoba government, which stipulate the program is conducted from their approved provider.
The Manitoba Responsible Service Certification, known as Smart Choices, is a mandatory program for individuals working in environments that involve the sale, service, or delivery of liquor in licensed premises. The certification aims to enhance public safety by educating participants on legal responsibilities, safety protocols, and strategies for responsible alcohol service, including addressing problem gambling.
This self-directed eLearning program spans seven modules, covering topics from responsible drinking and gambling to handling liquor-related issues, minors and identification, as well as the roles, responsibilities, and liabilities of staff. The course structure is designed to be engaging and interactive, allowing learners to progress at their own pace without a set time limit. Upon completion, participants must pass a final quiz to obtain their certification, which is valid for five years.
The certification is comprehensive, reflecting the latest guidelines from the Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction regarding alcohol and health. It equips learners with the knowledge to implement responsible strategies in their workplaces, thereby reducing risks and harm associated with alcohol consumption and gambling.
Enrollment in the course requires a one-time, non-refundable fee, with all course materials accessible online upon registration. Successful participants receive a digital certificate, complete with a QR code for easy verification of its validity, which can be stored electronically or printed out.
